Will Malaysia Ever Stop Playing Racial Cards?

Mahathir set a good example by 'NOT' playing racial cards? Why some still play racial cards? Why some want to stir racial hatred in an indirect way?

Is anyone hoping the abolishment of affirmative action will be delay so they can continue to enjoy the cronies benefit at the expense of poor people, regardless of ethnic?

"This would have made it impossible for Malays to own business or residential properties. “Perhaps the non-Malays can, but if the property is developed for sale to non-Malays, Kampung Baru will disappear as an area for Malays.” he said.

To ensure that Malays stayed in Kampung Baru, one condition imposed on developers was that they were required to not only pay for the land but also to provide residents with business premises and housing in the newly-developed Kampung Baru. “This once again would increase the development cost.”

Malay developers could not undertake such a project and non-Malay developers were not interested as the purchasing power of Malays was low, he said.

Dr Mahathir said that even today, many Malays were not able to buy houses and shops allotted to them.

He hoped that the Government would be able to rebuild Kampung Baru so visitors would not see Malays in poverty in their own country."

Further crackdown on anti-ISA protesters

The government is insisting on a harsh crackdown on anyone who was involved in the protests. As such, they should live up to their words.

Cuepacs has issued a statement saying that if civil servants are involved in protests, their superiors can take action against them, in line with the Akujanji forms that civil servants sign upon employment.

Similarly, I would think that our tertiary institutions, the local ones at least, have the same forms signed by their students. Therefore, I would think that they should also take the same action in suspending those found to have participated in the recent anti-ISA protests.

If students and civil servants alike did sign the Akujanji form and still participated in the protests, then I'm guessing they have no qualms in taking responsibility for their actions.

This is the same call I put forth when UiTM had their anti-Khalid Ibrahim protest as well. I think such institutions should be apolitical and enforce their stances in line with the policies of their establishments.

Perhaps the Ministry of Higher Education should ensure that such measures are taken.

Perak Assembly adjourned after chaotic & acrid meeting

4:08pm: The Perak Assembly has adjourned after a tumultuous meeting that led to ugly shouting matches and the ejection of Speaker V. Sivakumar, who was carried out physically by policemen. Despite the difficult situation, Perak Regent Raja Dr Nazrin Shah delivered his royal address but did not touch on the state's political flux nor the verbal brawls in the House.
The Regent instead focused on praising both the State and Federal Governments for ensuring growth and prosperity in Perak.

Earlier, commotion reigned at the Perak state assembly sitting after Sivakumar refused to start proceedings for as long as Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, the six Barisan Nasional (BN) executive councillors and three Independent assemblymen were in the House.

Immediately after taking his seat at about 10am, Sivakumar ordered the 10 assemblymen to leave the hall on the basis that they had been suspended.

The commotion that ensued left the Regent waiting in the holding Royal Room, for the official opening of the assembly session. Zambry and the other nine assemblymen, however, ignored Sivakumar's order.
Former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammed Nizar Jamaluddin and his former Exco members remained seated at the seats allocated for the Menteri Besar and exco members, while Zambry and the new exco members were seated on the opposition side.

Zambry then stood and proposed a motion to sack Sivakumar as Speaker, with the 27 BN assemblymen and three Independents raising their hands in support. But Sivakumar rejected the motion and explained that Zambry could not table the motion as he had been suspended from the assembly.

This caused the assemblymen on both sides of the political divide to hurl insults at each other.

Zambry then proposed the motion again, supported by the BN and Independent assemblymen. In response, Sivakumar ordered the House sergeant-at-arms to remove the 10 assemblymen but Zambry said that Sivakumar had been expelled.

At 10.48am, Deputy Speaker Hee Yit Fong then took over to preside over the assembly sitting from the opposition seat.

Zambry then proposed that former Sungkai assemblyman Datuk R. Ganesan be appointed as the new Speaker and the BN assemblymen and Independents supported the motion.

The commotion continued with Sivakumar still occupying the speaker's chair. With both parties claiming theirs is the rightful speaker, the taunting and booing continue and at one point, they almost got physical.

Sivakumar's voice, however, could not be heard clearly as his microphone has been turned off. The new speaker, Datuk R. Ganesan adjourned the session for an hour with Sivakumar claiming it was null and void.

BN parties defend Bukit Gantang Chinese community over loss

Senior Barisan Nasional component parties defended today the Chinese community in Bukit Gantang, saying piecemeal offerings should not be seen as a guarantee of votes. The MCA and Gerakan both said the coalition’s failure to wrest the seat from the opposition could not be pinned down to any one reason.

The two parties were commenting on a statement by deputy prime minister and Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who said the dip in Chinese votes seemed to imply that “there is no appreciation for what we (BN) have done”.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, on Saturday also blamed Umno’s coalition partners, saying Umno could no longer rely on the MCA, Gerakan and MIC to regain the support of the non-Malays.

Gerakan deputy president Chang Ko Youn said yesterday that while it was quite obvious they lost out on Chinese votes, it was wrong to say the community was ungrateful to the BN for its contributions.

Admitting there had been mistakes on their part in strategising the BN’s campaign in Bukit Gantang, he pointed out that the non-Malay community’s dissatisfaction was not something that could be resolved with campaign promises and one-off allocations.
“We shouldn’t be looking for a scapegoat. What is more important is to find the reason why the anger of the non-Malays has not subsided since one year ago.

“We must realise that last-minute work is not effective anymore. It was too little, too late, and we need to find more continuous and long-term solutions,” he said.

MCA spokesman and central committee member Lee Wei Kiat, in a statement, said a RM1 million allocation could not be expected to sway the votes of the non-Malays, who, along with the Malays, were frustrated over numerous issues.

Among these, he said, were lop-sided decisions in licensing and diesel subsidies for fishermen in Kuala Sepetang, unresolved status of village land ownership in Perak and the problems in the implementation of the New Economic Policy.

MCA vice-president Datuk Kong Cho Ha said Muhyiddin should not draw such a conclusion merely based on the results of one or two by-elections.

MIC secretary-general Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam declined to comment on the issue when met in Malacca.

Muhyiddin Yassin you are out of touch

Recent comments by our DPM Yassin only show that he has very little intellectual capacity. He had called the Chinese ungrateful and trying to be kingmakers. He claims after BN spend millions building chinese schools the chinese betrayed BN and voted for the opposition.

Mr Yassin, anyone with any brains can tell you that the problem with BN losing is NOT about building schools. It is all about UMNO & BN's arrogance and it's failure to deliver acceptable results for ALL Malaysians.

Mr DPM, UMNO's power base had always been with the Malays and if you fail to notice let me tell you, in the last few years the Malays are abandoning UMNO in ever increasing numbers and going over to PAS & PK.

Today's Malaysia is very different. The people are better informed and the ever arrogant UMNO can longer treat them as ignorant kampong folks. Forget the Chinese and the Indians, they are not you main cause of concern. MCA & MIC will always obey UMNO.

The Chinese & Indian support for PAS & PK is important but clearly insufficient to turn the tide and tilt the balance of power. It is the Malays shifting away from BN that is your main problem.

Don't blame the Chinese blame yourself, it is people like you in UMNO that are creating the shift and alienating the ordinary Malay folks away from UMNO.

The other day I was driving past Damasara and I saw this big sign that cried 6% discount for Bumiputras. Mr DPM, you think this sign will give the ordinary Malay a warm fuzzy feeling that your Government is doing something for them?

The answer is NO. The ordinary Malay knows that he cannot afford anything in Damasara even with the 6% discount. This sort of advertising will only make him more aware of the inequalities amongst the have and the have nots.

Mr DPM it is such thoughtless acts that you have to worry about. You guys in UMNO have failed to look after your power base and instead of fixing the problem you just want to blame it on the Chinese.

Share the country's wealth amongst all Malaysians instead of just the priviledged few and UMNO will rule for a thousand years. Keep going along the present path of blind self destruction and it will be the end of UMNO very soon.

Wake up and smell the kopi or is it too late already.

Suspension of MB, Exco can't be legally challenged: Bar Council

The decision by Perak assembly speaker V. Sivakumar to suspend the menteri besar and his six executive councillors as assemblymen cannot be challenged in court, the Malaysian Bar Council said today.

Council president Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan said: “Regardless of whether the correct procedure was followed by the speaker and the Committee of Special Privileges, under Article 72 of the Federal Constitution their conduct and the validity of the their proceedings may nevertheless be outside the jurisdiction of the courts.”

She said the doctrine of separation of powers means the judiciary could not interfere in the workings of Parliament or the state legislative assemblies.

Ambiga said in a faxed statement to the media that this also means that there should be no Executive influence in the workings of Parliament and state legislative assemblies.

“We say this as it has been reported that there are attempts to lodge police reports against the speaker of the Perak state assembly, which would violate these provisions,” said Ambiga.
Ambiga said wrestling over the constitutional and legal issues would not solve the political problem in Perak.

“Going back to the people of Perak will. We urge the parties involved to seriously consider doing so, not only in the interest of the people of Perak but also in the interest of stability and the nation as a whole,” she said.

$25M to cross over – there no recession here

$1M is a lot of money, to say the least $25M. It is highly unlikely this is correct or that the money will come from UMNO of the government.

It is most probably an estimate value of expected benefit this person will likely to get out of his position as a person who gets things done for the PM. This person has the PM's ear and that will bring in enormous financial benefits. It is most probably a number being thrown around to entice any sucker fish to take the bait.

The PM office did not give the money directly to this person. The PM only reward him with 5 minutes of his time just to "listen" or maybe kopi time with him. That is good enough to get the message out to businesses who wants the PM ear. Here is a person who has it but businesses have to bid for the 5 minutes. Is this corruption, I do not think so, it is lobbying.

Charge the PM with corruption for having kopi time? It will be a big ask. Maybe we should introduce a new level of corruption core and non core corruption

Perak UMNO : Battle is on

With Najib's recent appointment as Chairman of both Perak UMNO Liaison Committee and Barisan Nasional, BN has launched a massive onslaught from all fronts in order to topple the PR Government of the day.

A lot of the public's money will go down the drain to foot these futile takeover bids in view of his calamitous outings in Permatang Pauh and KT. Again BN/UMNO is showing their ugly side and underestimating the power of the rakyat.

So this is BN's latest battle plan. The other PR-held states must stay vigilant.

By the way, will these money-laundering spending be included in the Government's second stimulus plan?

DAP flags taken down in KT by elections

We got reports that the DAP flags put up in conjunction with the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary were taken down by the authorities reasoning that DAP is not the participant in this election.

This is clearly a double standard. In this by elections, it is BN and PAS who are contesting and not Umno. So why are Umno flags being put up everywhere together with BN flags?

This is not fair, if the authorities wanted to be reasonable be reasonable to all parties regardless of BN or Pakatan Rakyat.

Beware of Mukhriz Intention

Mukhriz Mahathir reason for closing down vernacular school tottaly irrational. Look around our neighbour like Thailand, Phillipines and Indonesia. Despite their so called 'one system', their unity level can't be proud of.. Southern Thailand in choas, religiuos fighting in Indonesia and Phillipines.

There are others way to create unity in Malaysia.

Closing down vernacular school in Malaysia purely Mukhriz strategy to win UMNO youth post.

Shah Rukh Khan can’t come to receive Datukship

If it would have been a knighthood from HRM the Queen, I bet he would be there one week in advance before the event could have taken place. I hope

1. UMNOputras nationwide will lodge more report to the nearby police stations as this event has been cancelled several times.

2. All Muslim NGO must go on a march to protest and boycott Shah Rukh Khan as he didn’t respect ( just create the story like how you all did to the opposition MPs an so on) the Yang di pertua of Malacca.

3. Awang Selamat from Utusan will write more inspiring racial based stories based on this matter in order to get more support for UMNO

4. Please make sure that the CM comes with a valid reason as how you all pressurized LGE and Prof Ramasamy over certain issues involving both.

5. Sue him in the court by charging him for being insensitive to the Malay Ruler because a lot of you people out there are good in creating trouble as well stirring racially biased stories for the sake of FUN.

Malaysia government is not lying on statistics

The economy of America, and the economies of all countries, is becoming integrated into a new global economy. Looking backward to a world that economically no longer exists as a guideline for what is going on is woefully incomplete, inaccurate and provides no insight except to point out the reality that we are living in a new age with new forces, flows and dynamics.

Although standards of corporate governance have improved greatly in Malaysia in recent years, and despite the fact that foreign companies - in particular foreign manufacturing companies - continue to be welcomed with open arms, Malaysia's business environment continues to disappoint. An overall score of 61.5 ranks it 36th (out of 167 countries), but places it firmly below regional competitors Hong Kong and Singapore - which score 82.2 and 83.8, respectively - as the country's affirmative action policy serves as a serious barrier to foreign firms in a number of key areas, and corruption remains a key concern.

Two issues are currently dominating Malaysia's political scene and present possible threats to stability. The first is an ongoing war of words between Abdullah and Mahathir. Mahathir has been critical of Abdullah's style of leadership and his abandonment of major infrastructure projects, and had gone as far as to accuse him of nepotism. Though there is an imminent change in leadership is minimal, but confidence in the government has been damaged. The second issue is race. Sentiment at branches' annual assemblies of the ruling UMNO party was heavily pro-Malay sometimes seemed threatening other races and this has damaged the government's reputation.

Malaysia is highly externally dependent, with exports contributing over 120% to overall GDP, and as the global economy slows, Malaysian growth will drop. Little support is likely to come from the domestic economy, which will be feeling the effects of monetary. Inflation, however, is not expected to ease and will not drop below 2% after the effects of fuel price hikes last March. I am not sure that the stimulus plan will help to support the economy later in next year. However, referring to some statistics, think the government is not twisting her statistic.

Relatively, though we can't smile but I do hope we can breath easily on the oncoming onslaught of recession in year 2009.

NEP

by DPM "Liberalisation of the NEP will only be implemented when the bumiputras feel more confident and competent."

When will it ever be the right time?

To MCA, this topic is top on your agenda. You were brazened with your words. Now where is the action? Wait another 51 years? Let me assure you, this time the cows won't come home!

5 Months Countdown for Pak Lah

For the past 5 years many people just can’t recall what Pak Lah have really contribute or done as a Malaysia PM that is worth remembering. Well some of you might have different view and arguments that he is a gentleman in handling serious national matters and we might overlook some of the internal changes that Pak Lah had made all this while. All the past Malaysia's PM we have recognize them as a Father of "this and that" as for Pak Lah i heard some media is reporting him as a Father of Revolution (correct me if I’m wrong). I must admit Pak Lah do take a bold step in Revolutionize 3 major so called "headache" in Malaysia: The Police Force, Juridical System and the ACA. Come to think of it can Mr Pak Lah really pull it off?? 5 Years Pak Lah have been a gentlemen in his own cabinet (maybe got bullied and push around) and now Pak Lah is trying to accomplish the impossible in 5 months!

Will this be another Mission Impossible 3 (Pak Lah succeeds) or Just another Hoax in Ocean 13 (trying to deceive), or Mybe Pak Lah is more like a Dark Knight (fighting a lonely battle)

As for the future PM Mr. N.....well we just have to wait and see. Hopefully he won’t "Sign Up" for another Space Tourist Package at any MATA Fair.

How come Tun Dr Mahathir can't speak?

I really was quite annoyed when the PM made a statement saying "Tun better don't speak at all".

Why can't he speak? If a former PM can't speak, then what about little commoners like us who've been shouting in CB all this while? What about the gentle reminder we have given the government in the recent general election? Like Tun Dr. Mahathir, many of us are not UMNO members too. I am not a member of UMNO myself and truly not interested to be one, I may die terribly if I even think of being a member of any political party. Many of us, who are not UMNO members, gave our vote to opposition parties because we want to give a 'loud message' to the government. Won't they listen to us?

Dr. Mahathir might have been a very authoritarian PM and a dictator (if anyone may call him that), but surely, he's a way better PM than Pak Lah! That's why he can always speak.

And mind you, he's a Malaysian citizen too, no matter how much anyone might have hated him. If we try to shut his mouth, then we are trying to shut a citizen's mouth, just like CB is filtering our postings and that's not democratic, right?

All I am saying is that, everyone should be given the rights to speak their mind, regardless of whether we and the government want to give a damn to it or not. Don't stop him no matter how grumpy the old man can be, because if we stop him, we give the government a reason to stop us.

Mediocre and Senseless

Basically and finally PM has bowed to the internal pressures of the Mahathirs clique and severals others in the Umno.

This basically shown, the senseless bunch on of so-called VP's and delegates from UMNO has as leaders. Ultimately, these guys has confirmed to the norm mindsets, that they know nuts in economies, administration and public relations.

All they know is confrontational, narrow and egoistics style to run their systems of cronies.

The PM, may not be best we have, but at least he is far better than the so-called successor. In which the successor has been successfully being very much tainted with conspiracy and scandalous incidents.

At least, the current PM never had such issues.

The successor, is also remembered for mentioning people's blood will soak in his keris. More or less tells us, he is not truly multi-racial mindset. In fact during Ahmad Ismail speeches, he did not reprimand him on the spot. Instead after all the hulabaloo then, he apologizes on behalf half heartedly.

Secondly, along his tenure in administration, he was never known to be great statemens with good international relationship to the West. Maybe to Russian and Mongolia in defence contracts discussion only.

A PM needs to be good architect of foreign policies in order to secure international confirmance in economies or many thing else.

Maybe you call me a hypocrite, be in my 2 cents, I could not imagine what more worse still Malaysia will be the kind of group leading our nation.

May all the gods, angels, deities and saints help Malaysia.

10 things UMNO must do!

For Umno to remain relevant and appeal to the masses, it has to evolve to suit the expectations of a fast-changing Malaysian society.

1. Be a true champion of Malays - No lah, tells Malaysians lah...

2. Put a full stop to money politics. - Can't do that, too many out there!!

3. Renew the fight against corruption - Start digging the accounts of MPs and Aduns over the last 20 years

4. Put serious checks against patronage and its abuse - Need to check the processes involved in purchasing the submarines

5. Set benchmarks for all contracts and procurements.- You mean to say that we have not learned anything about awarding contracts and lean procurement?? After 51 years??

6. Be less racial. - Forget it, as long as we exist, we will be racist to the teeth.

7. Be more tolerant in terms of religion - Yes, we will break more places of worship that belongs to the non-malays and offer them land near a septic tanks to rebuild new ones.

8.Cut the emotive content in language issues - Can't do that, because UMNOputras will not support me if i'm not emotional and provacative.

9.Become more accommodative rather than confrontational. - Chinese go back to China, etc etc etc....

10. Be a true champion of Malaysians - Cannot do that, the moment we get the biggest majority, we will divide and rule again for the next 49 years via racial card policies so that UMNOputras can start earning.

Zul Hassan Deserve The Sacking

It is totally unacceptable that Zul Hassan said "what is important is we did not ask for the women. He supplied them to us. If people sedekah (donate), don’t you want to accept it?” What type of answer he is giving?

He further blamed that he has been framed. He didn't blame himself for the entire episod. He didn't blame himself for his sexual desire. If he can control his sexual desire, how can people frame him?

To Zul Hassan, you deserve the sacking.

Ezam prepared to face Anwar in Bandar Tun Razak

Former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Youth chief Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor is prepared to contest against PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should there be a by-election in Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency.

He told a news conference here that he was not afraid and was willing to face the former deputy prime minister if the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership wanted him to contest in the area.

Mohamad Ezam is now an Umno member. He handed over his membership form to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on May 28.

"I'm an ordinary Umno member. So, it is best that the issue of candidacy in the area, more so if it is against Datuk Seri Anwar, be decided by party leadership.

"But I want to stress and reiterate that I’m ready... I’m not afraid to face Datuk Seri Anwar if the party wants me to contest in the by-election," he said when commenting on a statement by Anwar two days ago that he might consider contesting in the constituency.
The area is currently held by Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, who is Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR secretary-general.

There were speculations that Khalid might vacate the seat to pave the way for the by-election.

Meanwhile, commenting on Anwar’s claim that the Pakatan Rakyat would form the government on Sept 16, Mohamad Ezam said it was just a story "crafted to divert the people’s attention and not based on a serious agenda." Ezam said it would be impossible for Anwar to form the government.

"Today, it is becoming clear that the Pakatan Rakyat is a fragile pact. The crack is appearing and we see this in the statement made by (DAP chairman) Karpal Singh who is unhappy over the dialogue held between Pas and Umno.

"This goes to show that there are indeed internal problems in Pakatan Rakyat and Anwar knows this," he said.

On Anwar’s claim that there would be up to 30 BN members of parliament crossing over to Pakatan Rakyat, Mohamad Ezam said the claim was baseless.
