PM: Government will not tolerate anyone making racist remarks

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has warned the people against spreading “half-truths” on racial issues and said the Government has zero tolerance of racist remarks.

“We are aware of some SMSes that have been going around, (in which the content) is not accurate and is intended to raise (racial) sentiments,” he said.

Najib emphasised that action would be taken against those who made remarks that were racist in nature and unlawful, and also against those who vandalised places of worship such as churches or surau.

“Let’s not have people who spin the issue racially, as if we practise selective prosecution,” he said after chairing the Umno supreme council meeting at PWTC here yesterday evening.

Earlier in the day, Najib said the Government had zero tolerance for racist remarks by anyone.

“Our stand is not to tolerate racist remarks by anyone. Unity is very important as part of our nation building,” Najib said during a dialogue session with youths at the Barisan Nasional Youth Lab programme here.

Najib, however, added that alleged racist remarks must first be investigated before action was taken.

He was responding to concerns from the floor of recent racially-based remarks made by two school principals against the Chinese and Indian communities.

Barisan Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin presented the Youth Lab report. More than 7,500 youths had been engaged in formulating the ideas since March.

On calls to amend the Internal Security Act (ISA) to ensure it was not abused, Najib said the days of “scare politics” or using the ISA to wield power and show that one was in full control were gone.

He also agreed to the lab’s suggestion for a special 1Malaysia Fund to support youth programmes that encouraged inter-racial relationships and also supported the idea of having have minimum wage for certain sectors.

To a question on press freedom, Najib said the media had more latitude today and was given more space.

But he said they must be very careful in their reports to ensure the truth was not twisted and racial flames were not ignited.

On his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Najib said some were out to “divide” them although they were “one government.”

Aren't we all racist?

Job seekers may have read lines such as the following:

1) Chinese female preferred

2) Chinese preferred

3) Indian Christians preferred

4) Malays preferred

5) Bumis only

Whatever the race, aren’t we all racist? So, let’s not drum up the mantra that only certain races are always the victims.

Datuk Ahmad has to apologise!

UMNO apoligising on Datuk Ahmad's comments is not enough !!

We must demand that Datuk Ahmad himself apoligises to the entire Chinese community !!

Yet again we see another pathetic blunder by Barisan ! Give me one good reason why Datul Ahmad should not apoligise ??

This issue will yet again show the people how insincere Barisan is.Datuk Ahmad should be made to choke on his words.

BN will lose many votes and whaever remaining support that it has from the Chinese community will evaporate if there is no apology from Datuk Ahmad !!

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno, the backbone of the ruling Barisan Nasional government, has issued a public apology over a remark made by Bukit Bendera Umno division head Datuk Ahmad Ismail during the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election last month.

ways stop RACISM in Malaysia

1. Leaders!! Introduce cultural and religious subject in secondary school. Students must learn to understand at least a basic culture and religion of all races in Malaysia including small ethnic in Sabah and Sarawak. I am supporting PLKN but how deep the understanding level among races? For example, how many Malay will understand what “feng shui” means to Chinese and how many Chinese will understand that “songkok” is nothing to do with Islam philosophy?

2. Adult generation should stop “condemn/talk behind” (kutuk/cakap belakang) attitude towards other races. Start to teach our children to respect all differences in race and religion including in religious places such as temple, masjid etc.

3. Leaders!! Start the new generation of Malaysian call Bangsa Malaysia. Bangsa Malaysia should over protective of Malaysian not for Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sikh, Mamak, Jawa, Bidayuh, Melanau, Bajau, Kadazan, Iban, Minang, Banjar, Bugis, Caucasian, Mixed and many other ethnicity and community that we bordered ourself.

4. Keep loving your religion and belief but love other races too. Stop any attitude of “kenegerian”. All generations must carry the responsible to respect Bangsa Malaysia. We have to protect Malaysia. (Yes! Still we are racism)

5. Leaders!! Stop political party that based on race. OUR CHILDREN IS LEARNING FROM THERE!!!

6. Get the feeling of Bangsa Malaysia by speaking in Bahasa Malaysia as a medium language in every sectors of social and economy. Next generation should learn other language as a second language such as Mandarin and Indian. Third language should be international language like French, Arabic, etc. Put English as a second language but make it compulsory for Bangsa Malaysia to speak and write well.

I know it is very hard for all of us to stop racism 100% in Malaysia because deep inside everyone of us is a natural attitude tend to be protective for ourself from our brothers, sisters and strangers, protective for our family from the community, protective for our “taman, kampung, daerah” from other “taman, kampung, daerah”, protective for our state from other state (kenegerian). Then another level we tend to protect our race or country. That is why we can see fans are fighting just to support their football team.

I personally more than happy when in 2020 we are becoming the real Bangsa Malaysia rather than advanced country. The question that we really have to ask ourself is how far can we sacrifice our race for Bangsa Malaysia?

Maaf Ya! Bahasa Inggeris saya dalam peringkat permulaan...
