PROTON vs TEAM LOTUS

The Star Online. Published: Tuesday January 25, 2011 MYT 12:55:00 PM. Proton vs. Team Lotus: UK trial starts March 21, first round to Tony.

“KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Tony Fernandes' Formula 1 team, Team Lotus, has won the first round of the UK court battle with Proton.

Proton, the national car manufacturer which owns the Lotus-Renault team, had claimed that Fernandes' group had no right to use the Lotus name.”

Malaysian Vs Malaysian - This case is just a stun to a put Malaysia’s F1 Team in the limelight; in the international arena.

This is a clear case of Malaysia Boleh! Anything can happen; in a race for supremacy. It is not uncommon where the rich and famous uses their wealth to square off with the ignorant and hard-headed bunch.

Whatever the outcome will be come this March I hope to see 2 Malaysian F1 Team at the starting box. Either looser may use Water Lilly to their name.

What’s in a name hah?

Proton vs Toyota!

It is now a known fact that many state governments are “upgrading” their official car from local brand to foreign ones. There were many reasons given, each raising doubts from the public. It is hard to blame those who are objecting to this idea as the “upgrade” is paid with taxpayers’ money.

In my opinion, this move is an insult to locally manufactured cars and a showcase of being unconfident of local products. Many reasons given by the state governments show they believe that Proton cars are of lower quality and require a higher maintenance fee. The example would be how the Perak executive councilors said that the reason why they bought the 2.4 litre Toyota camry instead of the 2.0 litre model is because the latter is underpowered. This statement totally disregards Proton cars of their capability, a showcase of them not believing in local products’ quality. Also, the word “upgrading” signifies the local brand-Proton is of lower level when compared to foreign brands.

It is not hard to explain why campaigns encouraging Malaysians to buy local goods are not working as the state governments themselves are not practicing it. In fact, they are unconfident of our local cars and recognize the quality of foreign brands, providing Toyota and Mercedes free publicity.

Imagine what the Japanese diplomats would think of our cars when they see Malaysian state government officers are driving cars manufactured by them. It is hard to blame any Japanese bragging about their cars as they have the perfect line: “Even Malaysian governments choose our brands over any of their own.”

How terrible is Proton in the eyes of Malaysian?

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PROTON CARS?Personally find it flimsy and light.

WAS PROTON CARS A GOOD BUY? Never thought of buying one.

DO YOU CONFIDENT ON PROTON CARS? More confident on Perodua.

IS PROTON CARS HAS REAL BAD ENGINE OR SYSTEM PROBLEM? Never really own one, but heard stories like Power window, steering issues on the Wajas, poor engine in Gen2.

WHAT IS ALWAYS AND FREQUENTLY BREAKSDOWN IN PROTON CARS? I'm not sure, any comment on this.

WHICH MODEL IS THE WORST FROM PROTON? Personally by view, Savvy is one ugly car to me.

WHICH IS THE BEST FROM PROTON? So far the Iswara models made during Yr 98 to Yr 2000 looks the best.

By the way, this is disclaimer that tell people, I don't own a Proton Car. In fact never owns 1 at all before. I've started by gift from my dad a Datsun 120Y (those in Penang know, this is used for Kereta Sapu). Then save enough to buy my 1st car the Kancil 660EX and driven it for 6 years. Upgrade to Kenari GX and driven for more than 4years. Now I'm driving into the 3rd month my Vios. Above questions is just to gauge, for those that really owns a Proton car before.

I've only driven Protons on joyride from relatives and friends in Wira, Iswara and Saga (Magma and Megavalve).

So honestly, guys and gals out there or out here, what is your opinion on Protons.

ACA probe : Seizes 8 Proton Perdana

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Anti-Corruption Agency has seized eight Proton Perdana V6 cars used by state executive councillors.

The cars were taken to facilitate investigations into their maintenance cost.

State ACA director Sharuddin Sapian confirmed the seizures, which were carried out on Thursday and Friday.

Since investigations began, nine people, including four drivers, civil servants and mechanics have given their statements to the agency.

The ACA stepped in after the state government said it was replacing the national car with a fleet of Mercedes Benzes because of the high maintenance cost of the Perdana.
Executive councillors whose Perdana have been seized are using the new Mercedes.

Further :Kudos Proton + ACA But Boo To Terengganu State Gomen

PROTON had made the right move to probe allegations of `high-maintenance-cost` for Perdana. However, instead of just investigating dealers at Terengganu, maybe PROTON should consider find out more about other dealers at other states as well.

Swift actions are needed because any delay would have give way for the culprits to `cover-up` their mistakes. Light sentence shall serve as `reward` for those who are convicted but willing to confess or assist the investigation of the mis-used of the money or over-claim so that the culprits would face justice the soonest possible.

I believe by taking this action, everyone will be alerted that every actions taken will be followed by consequences. Well done PROTON, it's simply the right move to make.

Kudos Proton + ACA But Boo To Terengganu State Gomen

Kudos to Proton and ACA for taking swift action to suspect irresponsible dealers. This should serve as a good example to the others. Proton and ACA should perhaps also give the assurance to the people that the same will happen if the Rakyat report such cases to Proton.

Another shocking discovery about our "jiwa Rakyat" politicians though. It seems these people are so "detached" from the Rakyat whom they "claim" to represent. They have not a clue about what reasonable price to service a Proton car. They have not a clue about how much the Rakyat pay for car services, and obviously they have not a clue about or don't give a crap about how to save money and being a "water fish" (cantonese) to these irresponsible profiteers.
