Seeing red over RM7 price tag for a bowl of porridge
A consumer complained of having to pay RM7 for a bowl of rice porridge with some dried fish, bean sprouts and kangkung (a kind of leafy vegetable) at a food shop GUA MUSANG.

He also advised consumers against patronising food outlets which did not display prices.

New trains for Kelana Jaya line will only be usable by Sept 2009
THE first of the 35 LRT trains ordered for the Kelana Jaya line will arrive in Malaysia by November this year to meet increasing demands. However, commuters will have to wait until September next year before the first of these trains will be usable. The entire fleet will only be commisioned by April 2011.
Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad chief executive officer Shaipudin Shah Harun said today that the reason for the 11-month wait was because the company needed to complete assembly of the trains, upgrade the power capability of the line, as well as do safety testing.
Shaipudin said the order for the trains - which are being manufactured by Canadian conglomerate Bombardier - had been made two years ago in 2006.
The four-car trains will increase the capacity of the Kelana Jaya line from 160,000 passengers to 350,000 passengers daily.
Asked about the lengthy period for the acquisition, Shaipudin said that it was the norm of the industry.
”Why does it take up to two years (for the first trains to be usable)? The answer is simple - every train is made from scratch, it costs between US1 to 2 million each and not just anybody can make them,” Shaipudin briefed reporters at a post-budget press conference held at their office.
Shaipudin said the trains were custom made and take up to a year to build.
”It is the nature of the industry,” he said.
Prasarana took over operations of both the Ampang and Kelana Jaya line in January 2005.
When asked why Prasarana had waited until the LRT had became congested before ordering the trains, Shaipudin said since the company only took over the operations in 2005, it could not be held accountable for what happened before that takeover.

PM: Govt may review fuel prices next month
The government may again review petrol prices in October, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said today.
“Now, the global crude oil price is at US$109 per barrel. If it stays at that level, then of course I will be very happy to reduce it by 15 sen than the current RM2.55 (fuel pump) price,” he told reporters after chairing the Finance Council Meeting here today.
“Pray that it (crude oil price) does not go up, and that it will go down more. We are monitoring all the time,” said Abdullah, who is also Fiance Minister.
On Aug 23, fuel price was reduced by 15 sen to RM2.55 a litre from RM2.70.
HOPE it can soon be reduced to the said estimated amount of RM2.40(-0.15cent)

NAJIB: Gov't does not agree to Sept 16 being made public holiday
The federal government is not agreeable to the suggestion by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that Sept 16 be made a public holiday in the five states under Pakatan Rakyat.
“We have chosen the date as our independence day. Having another date will give rise to all kinds of interpretation, polemic and this is not healthy to national integration.
“This is our stand; we give importance to unity and national integration,” he told reporters after launching the Chery multi-purpose vehicle here today.
Malaysia celebrates its National Day on Aug 31 every year.
Penang and Kelantan had accepted the proposal while the three other states were still considering it.

We must demand that Datuk Ahmad himself apoligises to the entire Chinese community !!
