Earthquake in Malaysia

At approximately 10.30pm yesterday, tremors were felt in Georgetown Penang and Bandar Utama, Puchong, Mont Kiara, Old Klang Road, Taman Tun and other places in the Klang Valley.

Apparently, according to the Jabatan Meteorologi Malaysia website, the tremors were caused by a moderate earthquake Northern Sumatera (5.1 on Richter scale).

However, the U.S. Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program website reported that the earthquake in Northern Sumatera had a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale.
