Earthquake in Malaysia

At approximately 10.30pm yesterday, tremors were felt in Georgetown Penang and Bandar Utama, Puchong, Mont Kiara, Old Klang Road, Taman Tun and other places in the Klang Valley.

Apparently, according to the Jabatan Meteorologi Malaysia website, the tremors were caused by a moderate earthquake Northern Sumatera (5.1 on Richter scale).

However, the U.S. Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program website reported that the earthquake in Northern Sumatera had a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale.

You can check the following websites for recent earthquake alerts:

Dr.M Quit = New Malaysia ?

Some feel surprised, some feel sad and some are shocked by Dr M's decision, well, for me, I am totally disappointed! I can never imagine a leader of such stature resolve to such "cheap" sympathetic stunt to put pressure on the PM.

In my humble opinion, Dr M has not only betrayed UMNO, but also betrayed those who supported him. I may not agree with the PM most of the time, but I think this time, the PM is more right than ever to stay focus on the issue within UMNO rather than being a crying baby like Dr M seeking every attention and every opportunity to destroy everything so many people has built up in so many years including himself just to spoon-feed his ego and pride to be heard and acknowledged. My advise to you Dr M is that you should have retired and enjoy your retirement with dignity and honor which many people still have for you rather than bringing down everything with you.

About the Lingam case, you're ready to testify again and explain what happened to the judges???? I thought you "SUDAH LUPA" or cannot remember when you were questioned by the Royal Commission of Enquiry? What kind of brain-food you eat lately to bring back those memories?

A New Malaysia - September 16

Saudara DSAI, you maintain that there will be a landmark change in the governance of Malaysia by September. Great!

Here is my request, my dearest Saudara DSAI (I actually liked the 'Saudara strategy' better...), can you pls publish a list of your leading MPs/PRians who'd well surpass the minimum standards that you'd impose on those who wish to become esteemed Cabinets Members?

Here is my worry. Do you have the brains (meaning PR, not you..) and the experience on your side to manage a nation that is filled with potential?

At the point of take-over, you need to be able to race ahead, not inch through a learning curve!

The people do not need a learning curve now, especially when their main need (not want) will be a sustainable lifestyle, given the senseless spiralling of prices.

You think you can do this? Tell us how.

Pak Lah, on the BN side, 50 years of leadership has certainly put this country on the global map not many can argue against this not even Anwar he did sweat with you and Dr M for the success afterall....

My question is this, what if Anwar scores a major upset? ( In my mind, it'll be far from an upset, seriously the Malay Opposition shares a great deal of belief with the Malay Ruling Class.. The nons.... we'll shoutlah but in the end I don't see us going back to China or India... We'll die, in our old age, proudly as Malaysians!) What next? This MP cross-over thing is such bull enough written about it. I shan't comment further. But still... is BN simply sitting pretty, waiting to be dethroned?

I am sure not. So, convince us pls how you, BN, will continue to illuminate Malaysia on the now, energy-starved, global map...

But as a layman, just a simple suggestion make the Executive a truly professional one. Enough of Ministers by way of popular vote. Its time to bring out the 30-50 brightest, most capable, aggressive, hungry, strategic Malaysian leaders to the fore.

Nice to see Amirsham and Zaid, among others. But it is the 'others' that worry me... And also, we have come to a political stage where the administration needs to be even more professional and capable than their political masters. (assuming you stop entrusting this economy with the populists)

Perhaps its time Intan took steps to have open dialogues with BN and PR, together. In preperation. Manalah tau...

After all, aren't we one big happy Malaysian family? Like Empat Sekawan... Sorry lah young uns.... Those were the days...

Omen told the Earthquake in China

Apparently there were omens that predicted the earthquake that killed over 10,000 people in the Sichuan province, south-western China on Monday, 12th May. The omens were: a lake that had ‘vanished’, an army of frogs and butterflies that migrated, and distinctive cloud patterns.

Many Chinese believe that these were the clues to some geological activity which were warning signs of the impending 7.9 magnitude earthquake in China.

See More Here

On hindsight, anything, however marginally connected to a past event can be construed to be an omen. If those people were so smart at reading omens, why didn't they warn anyone prior to the earthquake happening ?

Some people believe that Buddha is punishing the China for its atrocities in Tibet.

Do you believe in omens ? or are they just coincidences ? Please post your comments.

Raja Petra Case latest news

Malaysia Today news portal editor Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin, better known as RPK, will be spending another night at the Sungai Buloh Prison eventhough his wife had posted the RM5,000 bail imposed on him by the Sessions Court on Tuesday after he claimed trial to a sedition charge.

Marina Lee Abdullah, 54, posted the bail at about 2.15pm today after she managed to persuade her husband for the bail to be posted when she met him for about 10 minutes today.

Asked what prompted Raja Petra to change his mind, Marina said it was probably the note she left for her husband yesterday with the prison officials after he refused to meet her.

Marina said she had stated in the note that his readers were fully behind him and his family missed him dearly.

“I met him for 10 minutes before he agreed for bail to be posted. He told me he had a drink this morning before I rushed to the court to facilitate his release,” she said.
Sessions Judge Nurmala Salim issued the “Order To Produce” (OTP) to facilitate prison officials to bring Raja Petra to court tomorrow morning before releasing him on bail.

Raja Petra’s counsel Jadadish Chandra told reporters the blogger would be brought to court tomorrow morning as stated in the OTP.

“I met the judge in her chambers to get my client released by today but the judge explained she must follow procedures since the OTP she signed was for tomorrow,” he said.

Raja Petra, 58, claimed trial on Tuesday for allegedly posting a seditious article entitled “Let’s send the Altantuya murderers to hell” on his website on April 25.

Raja Petra had refused to post bail and instead opted to go to jail pending the trial on Oct 6.

Raja Petra Kamarudin case

Using just half a brain to thing, it’s sounds so funny :-

(1) The Sedition Act 1948 is dated even before both Raja Petra and DPM Najib were born.

(2) Why are we adopting a legislation left behind by the colonial after gaining independence for more than 50 years ?

(3) If what is seditious in 1948 is still seditious after 60 years, it means that our country has NOT improved at all, generally.

(4) The Act is only use by the Government against the Rakyat ? Of course, the politicians will say that it is used to protect the Rakyat. But does sedition really kill ( like the olden days ) ? Or how do you prove what damages it will cause ?

Declaration – I am just one of the many millions of Malaysian who do not understand the real legal implication of sedition.

China lashes Dalai

China kept up a barrage of criticism Saturday against the Dalai Lama, even as two of his envoys headed here for talks on the unrest that has overshadowed the run-up to the Beijing Olympics.

"They will arrive in China today," said Chhime R. Chhoekyapa, secretary to the Tibetan spiritual leader.

He told AFP the envoys would be meeting Chinese officials "as soon as they arrive" but declined further details, saying only the talks with the Chinese Communist Party's United Front Work Department would take place "somewhere in China."

The Tibetan government-in-exile, which is based in the northern Indian town of Dharamshala, said earlier that the envoys, Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen, had arrived in Hong Kong en route to mainland China.

Chinese state media Saturday carried no reference to the much-anticipated meetings, instead warning against the "Dalai clique," a loosely defined term referring to people close to him.

"As long as the Dalai clique still exists, our struggle with the Dalai clique will not stop. We must raise our vigilance and absolutely cannot relax," the Tibet Daily newspaper said.

Beijing's offer last month to reopen dialogue was widely seen as a response to global pressure over China's crackdown on unrest in Tibet.

Protests against the March crackdown have targeted the Olympic torch relay on its worldwide journey, particularly in London and Paris, angering Beijing and provoking anti-Western sentiment among Chinese.

"During this brief visit, the envoys will take up the urgent issue of the current crisis in the Tibetan areas," Thubten Samphel, a spokesman for the Tibetan government-in-exile, said Friday.

"The envoys will raise the issue of moving forward on the process for a mutually satisfactory solution to the Tibetan issue."

Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile Samdhong Rinpoche revealed last week his government had been in touch with the Chinese authorities on ways to resolve the crisis in Tibet.

However, the forthcoming meetings would be the first reported face-to-face contacts between the two sides since unrest erupted in Tibet on March 10 and triggered a Chinese crackdown.

Amid intense interest, exiled Tibetan leaders have sought to play down any expectations, saying the talks were not even on a par with six earlier rounds of dialogue that started in late 2002 and broke off in 2007.

"It is not the seventh round of talks," Rinpoche said earlier. "It is only an informal consultation."

Details of the talks, including time and location, have not been released by either side.

A spokesman for the Dalai Lama's office in Dharamshala said the talks were unlikely to be held in Beijing but refused to say more. Chinese officials were not available Saturday for comment.

However, state media continued their attacks on the Dalai Lama, quoting a member of Tibet's People's Political Consultative Conference, an advisory body, as saying he was targeting the Olympics.

"The Dalai clique's fond dream of 'Tibet independence' and its dangerous plan of sabotaging Tibet's economy and the Beijing Olympics will be shattered," Tibet Daily quoted the member saying.

The Tibetan government-in-exile says 203 people were killed and some 1,000 hurt in the unrest and crackdown.

At least 5,715 people have been arrested since the protests began, according to figures, which the government says have been extensively cross-checked.

China said 20 people had been killed by Tibetan rioters until Monday, when state media for the first time said police shot dead a Tibetan pro-independence "insurgent".

Chinese troops invaded Tibet in 1950 and officially annexed the region a year later. The Dalai Lama, who fled his homeland following a 1959 uprising, has repeatedly accused China of widespread rights violations there.

Naza - The Late Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin

More than 6,000 people were at the Masjid Wilayah, Jalan Duta here to pay their last respects to Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin who died of lung cancer in Los Angeles (LA), in the United States (US) on Thursday.

The body of the founder and chairman of the Naza Group, which was flown from LA, arrived at the mosque grounds at 1.15pm accompanied by family members and close friends.

The body was later placed at the multipurpose hall of the mosque to enable dignitaries, corporate leaders and members of the public who had waited from 12 noon to pay their last respects to Nasimuddin.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was among those who paid their respects.

Others included former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique, former Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, and former Science, Technology and Innovations Minister Datuk Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis.
Officials and players from the Kuala Muda Naza football club were also among those who paid their respects.

Shortly after the body arrived, students from the Madrasah Sheikh Mohamad Salahuddin Al-Amin from Hulu Langat and Madrasah Al-Rahmaniah from Bukit Beruntung read the `surah Yaasin’.

At about 2.30 pm, the body was brought into the mosque for the funeral prayer.

The body was later taken to the Batu 9 Muslim Cemetery, Kampung Melaka, Hulu Langat where Nasimuddin was buried beside the grave of his mother, Salbiah Abdul Majid.

Nasimuddin, 53, died at a private hospital in Long Beach, LA where he was receiving treatment for lung cancer since January.
